The first signs of cognitive decline rarely look dramatic.
It may be a question asked three times during the same meal. A familiar name that suddenly disappears. A missed payment, a forgotten appointment or a subtle change in personality that no one wants to talk about.
Families notice—but often remain silent. They hope it is stress, fatigue or “just getting older.”
When they finally ask for help, they may be told to monitor the problem and return when it gets worse.
But monitoring is not a plan. And cognitive decline does not wait.

Bringing ReCODE 2.0 to Central Oregon
I am honored to share that my work was recently featured by EIN Presswire in an article announcing the availability of the ReCODE 2.0 approach for families throughout Central Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.

After completing Dr. Dale Bredesen’s ReCODE 2.0 Advanced Clinical Training, I became one of the first practitioners in Oregon trained to provide this comprehensive approach to memory loss and cognitive decline.
Until now, Central Oregon families seeking this type of evaluation have often had to travel to Portland or leave the state. My goal is to make this advanced, personalized care available much closer to home.
Why Am I Sharing This With My Chiropractic Patients?
Many of you have known me for years—or even decades—as your chiropractic physician.
But my work has never been limited to treating pain. For more than 30 years, I have studied how the brain, nervous system, metabolism, immune system, gut, hormones and environment interact.
I am sharing this here because nearly every family has been touched by Alzheimer’s or dementia. Someone reading this may already be noticing changes in a spouse, parent, friend—or themselves—and wondering whether it is time to be concerned.
It is better to ask that question too early than two years too late.
Alzheimer’s Is Not a Single-Problem Disease
Conventional medicine often searches for one diagnosis and one medication. ReCODE begins with a different question:
What is causing this particular person’s brain to struggle?
Dr. Bredesen’s research has identified dozens of potential contributors to cognitive decline. These may include inflammation, insulin resistance, poor circulation, sleep apnea, nutrient and hormone deficiencies, toxins, chronic infections, gut dysfunction and genetic risks such as APOE4.
These factors do not affect every person equally.
One patient’s decline may be driven primarily by metabolic dysfunction and poor sleep. Another may have vascular problems, inflammation and toxic exposures. A third may have an entirely different combination.
The diagnosis may sound the same, but the underlying biology—and therefore the plan—may be very different.
This Is Not a Miracle Cure
ReCODE is not a pill, shortcut or guarantee.
It is a comprehensive precision-medicine program that investigates the factors potentially driving cognitive decline and creates an individualized plan to address them. It may require meaningful changes in nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress, metabolic health and environmental exposures.
It also requires commitment—not only from the patient, but frequently from a spouse or adult child who can help implement the plan.
This approach does not replace appropriate medical or neurological care. It offers families something that is too often missing: a structured, proactive search for the reasons the brain is declining.
The Best Time to Act Is Before the Crisis
The most valuable window may be the one in which a person still sounds, functions and feels mostly like themselves.
Do not wait for occasional forgetfulness to become lost independence. Do not wait for repeated questions to become forgotten names. And do not assume that nothing can be done until someone has undergone a thorough evaluation.
If you are concerned about yourself or someone you love, begin by learning what to look for.

The purpose is not to create fear. It is to make sure fear does not keep a family waiting until the most important window has passed.
Early action matters.
